The two balls in the wooden frames act as the lamp's switches. To switch on the lamp, the user pulls up the resting lower ball. The two balls are magnetically pulled together and hang in the air for a moment. When they are balanced, the circuit is connected and the lamp turns on. To switch off the lamp, one simply pulls the lower ball back down.
